Video Blog: Mix-and-Match Inspiration

It’s time for a video blog post again! I will be creating this watercolor painting on the video. At the same time you will see how I grab pieces of inspiration here and there and add them to my work.
In the beginning of the video I am sitting on the floor of my new art studio. We are renovating a spare room for making art, photographing and shooting videos. I will show you more photos once the room is finished.

Here’s that turquoise studio wall again and me and my younger beagle, Stella. She is a very pampered pet, the sunshine of my life, also called as Princess Stephanie!
I am wearing one of my latest handknits, a sweater knit from Finnish naturally dyed wool, bought from a small Finnish company Riihivilla. If you are interested in knitting, here’s another picture of the sweater and more information about it.
Hopefully you will enjoy the video! Have a wonderful weekend full of inspiration!

Video Blog Post: Free Doodling
Here it is – my first video blog post! Here you can see how I create a small artwork by doodling freely with colored pencils and markers. It took about 30 minutes to create the drawing. You will see every single phase, but a part of it is fast forwarded.
This was terribly exciting, so please excuse my slow talking and grammar mistakes!
How to Paint Watercolor Postcards in Vintage Style
I have beautiful, old floral postcards which inspired me to create some of my own. When making the cards I realized that it would be almost impossible to show the techniques with static images and text only. So I made a short video about how I improvised the cards. Only watercolors, two brushes, and a watercolor paper needed!

Finished Art Journal
In 2012 I bought a pink Smash book. Two years later, it’s now finished. With this video, I want to encourage you to continue art journaling. Whatever a single page looks like, it will be pretty and meaningful when being part of the full book.
Finished Art Journal – A Thick Book!

I love handling full books, the thick, filled pages just temp to open them again and again! Smash books have a lot of pages and I had to remove several of them when my book grew thicker page by page.

You may also recognize some artwork on the video that has been shown in this blog. I often use art journals to save them.

Here’s the back cover again which I finished on the video. I create decorated elements (like the centerpiece of the flower) now and then. They are stored with hand decorated papers and when I create collages they often work as jump starts. It always looks better if all the elements are not made in the same day! The same is with the journal itself – keep on decorating, day by day, one piece at the time!
